What Did Qin Do That Did Not Benefit China?
Qin made some amazing improvements in China's society, but Qin made many bad decisions regarding China. He used many of China's resources for his personal projects such as building his Tomb and Terracotta Army. Another project of Qin's was building The Great Wall of China. Many people suffered and died while working on the wall. Huge amounts of work and materials went into the building of this project, then its purpose was defeated when the Mongolians got over the wall and invaded China.
Qin became obsessed with his power, he wanted to be immortal. His doctors told him that if he took Mercury, he would live longer. This decision actually did the opposite, the mercury was slowly killing the emperor while sending him insane. When Qin started to go crazy, his judgment skills were not the best. There is one thing Qin did which is considered horrible by historians. Qin got all the texts about Confucianism. He thought all history should start with him and Legalism. He burnt anything from previous ways. Did Qin's good decisions over weigh his bad? Most definitely. Qin did go crazy and was a tyrant, but he unified China and brought the country together. Some of these mistakes caused China lives, something you can never get back. QUESTIONS: 1) Where were the majority of China's resources committed? 2) Did mercury benefit Qin? Mabel Wood 7EL
